How ActiveLife Therapy collects, uses and protects your personal information. Last updated 7 November 2026.

1. Who we are

ActiveLife Therapy is an athletic therapy and sports rehabilitation business run by Becky Furlong, based at The Exchange, Whitemill Industrial Estate, Wexford, Y35 NPP0, Ireland. We are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.

2. What information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, phone number, email address and, where relevant, your club or team.
  • Booking and payment details: appointment dates, services booked and payment records. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Health and injury information: injury history, symptoms, medical history, scan or discharge reports, movement screen results, test results, treatment notes, plans and progress. This is “special category” data under GDPR and we treat it with extra care.
  • Messages: what you send us by WhatsApp, text, email or the website.
  • Website data: basic technical information such as device, browser and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. How and why we use it

We only use your information where we have a lawful reason to:

  • To provide our services (contract): booking, assessing, treating and following up with you.
  • To provide healthcare (GDPR Article 9(2)(h)): we use health information to assess your injury and plan your care. It is handled by a professional bound by confidentiality.
  • To meet legal obligations: keeping accounting, tax and professional records.
  • For our legitimate interests: running and securing the business, handling enquiries and improving our services, where this doesn’t override your rights.
  • With your consent: sharing a readiness report or results with your club or medical team, using your photo, video or testimonial, and sending marketing messages. You can withdraw consent at any time.

We never sell your personal information.

4. Who we share it with

We only share information where needed to run our services, and only the minimum necessary:

  • Service providers: our website host and booking tools (Squarespace), email (Microsoft Outlook), messaging (WhatsApp), video call tools, payment providers and Google services such as Maps and the reviews display. They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.
  • Your club, coach, doctor, insurer or other health professional: only with your consent, or where you ask us to.
  • Professional advisers: such as our accountant, where needed.
  • Where the law requires it, or to protect someone’s vital interests in an emergency.

5. Transfers outside the EEA

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under GDPR, such as an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

We keep clinical records for at least 8 years after your last appointment, and for clients under 18 until they turn 26, in line with usual practice for healthcare records. Accounting records are kept for the period required by Irish law. Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking are deleted after 12 months. After these periods, records are securely deleted.

7. How we protect it

We keep records on password-protected devices and accounts, limit access to Becky Furlong, and only share what is necessary. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information. If a breach affects your rights, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate information corrected
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Restrict or object to certain uses
  • Receive your information in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier use

To use any of these rights, email activelifetherapy@outlook.ie. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first. Some clinical records can’t be deleted early because we are required to keep them.

If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission: 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 · www.dataprotection.ie. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

9. Children and young people

We treat players under 18, often through clubs and schools. For clients under 18 we ask for a parent or guardian’s consent, and information is shared with them as appropriate. We do not knowingly collect information about children through our website without a parent or guardian’s involvement.

10. Reviews and testimonials

We only publish testimonials, names, photos or videos with your permission. Reviews you post on Google are governed by Google’s own privacy policy.

11. Website, cookies and links

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which uses cookies and similar technologies to run the site and measure traffic. You can control cookies in your browser settings or through the cookie banner on our site. Our website may link to other sites, such as Google Maps or WhatsApp, which have their own privacy policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date above.
